All Things Are Possible
Matthew 19:26
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
Jesus said this to his disciples right after He had told the rich young man to sell all his possessions and give to the poor. The rich young man “went away sorrowful because he had many possessions.” Jesus then told the disciples in Matthew 19:24:
“Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
This famous comment led the disciples to ask “Who then can be saved?” to which Jesus replied “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Do you live like you believe that all things are possible with God? If you struggle to do this, you are not alone. The Bible is filled with examples of people who had ample evidence that God was real, and still could not live like all things were possible for God. God parted the Red Sea and saved the Israelites from Pharaoh, yet the Israelites grumbled often, and even disobeyed God. Adam and Eve spoke to God daily. He visited them in the garden, yet they had enough doubt that they were deceived by the serpent.
Christians believe that God created all things. If God did indeed create all things, and gave us life, then it doesn’t make sense to doubt that He can do all things. Yet still we doubt, worry, and rebel.
Through prayer, studying the Bible, and communing with other believers we can come to doubt less.
Lord forgive our doubt. Help us to believe that all things are possible with you.
