[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [4] to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, [5] who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3–5
The Resurrection is the most significant event in world history. If you believe that the resurrection is real, then you believe that God is real, because only an all-powerful God could resurrect the dead. If you believe the Old Testament is true, then you have to believe the resurrection is true, because the Old Testament foretells the resurrection.
Jesus predicted that he would be raised on the third day. “And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again.” Mark 8:31 If Jesus was not resurrected, then, as Paul said, our faith is useless.
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,” John 11:25. Do you believe that Jesus is God Incarnate? If you do, then you know that you will have eternal life, because Jesus said you would.
God has given us indisputable proof that Jesus is God, that he was crucified and resurrected, and that those who believe in Him will have eternal life.
Are you living your life like you have this divine assurance of eternal life? The world will try to bring you down, make you doubt, or make you live in fear. The world will cloud your judgment and cause you to value temporal things instead of eternal things. Pray that God will help you stay focused on Him.
Lord, I pray I will live in humble confidence with courage and conviction daily, as a child of God who has the promise of spending eternity in Your presence. Amen.
