The Creation of the World

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

It’s hard to imagine anyone not considering how the earth, universe, and everything came into being.  There are various theories about how it all began, but all of the theories fall into two basic categories;  everything came into existence without intelligent design, or everything was created by some form of intelligent being.

The current most popular theory of how the universe began held by those who believe that everything came into being without an intelligent creator is the Big Bang Cosmological model. This theory states that the universe exploded into being and expanded rapidly from an extremely hot, dense singularity.   According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of a singularity is a region in space-time where matter is crushed into an infinitely small space. At this point, the density and gravitational forces become infinite, and the known laws of physics and general relativity break down completely.  This breakdown in general relativity resulted in the Big Bang.  It is theorized that this cosmological event occurred 13.8 billion years ago and the universe has been expanding and cooling, forming matter, stars, and galaxies ever since.

The most glaring problem with the Big Bang without a creator is where did the matter come from that was crushed and caused the Big Bang?  This is the problem with every theory of the beginning of the universe that does not include a creator.  How was everything created from nothing by no one?  As impressive as man’s scientific advances are, man has never created anything from nothing, nor has  anything been observed spontaneously coming into existence from nothing.

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.  Hebrews 11:3

As Christians, we do not have to worry about this impossibility because the Bible tells us that God created the universe from nothing.  Only God could do this.
